Priorities
To achieve our mission, we are prioritizing strategies that:
- Directly promote strong human relationships
- Provide creative learning and early education opportunities
Human Relationships
We know that nothing is more fundamental to the well-being of children and families than human relationships, especially for children facing significant challenges. With every grant we make, we challenge ourselves by asking, “Does this project strategy promote human relationships?” We seek to increase the quality of human relationships within families and in communities.
Examples of our work reflecting this priority:
- Building relationships between parents, caretakers and children through parent child centers, and increasing the quality and quantity of child care.
- Developing caring, one-on-one relationships between adults and children through developing quality mentoring programs and mentoring networks.
- Developing assets in children and youth through supportive group programming
- Building relationships between middle income families and families experiencing generational poverty
Learning
We believe that children thrive when diverse and creative learning opportunities are available to them, regardless of economic status. From learning in infancy from family members, to preschool, to compelling and challenging opportunities for youth, the Permanent Fund supports innovative efforts to keep children and families engaged in lifelong learning.
Examples of our work reflecting this priority:
- High-quality, accessible child care
- Truancy and drop out prevention efforts
