How We Work
The Permanent Fund was founded out of a desire to achieve the best outcomes for children and families through innovative, engaged grantmaking. Our grantmaking style can be characterized as:
Proactive
We search for expertise, leadership and strategic opportunities in communities, rather than reviewing unsolicited grant proposals.
Collaborative
We seek to develop collaborative partnerships with non-profit organizations, other foundations, community leaders, and policy makers. We want to learn from our grantees, and strive to share our learning with others.
Engaged
The Permanent Fund is dedicated to the success of our grantees. We recognize the positive impact that technical assistance and capacity building can have for an organization.
Community-Based
When the stars are properly aligned, we may want to spend more time and effort in one community. This might involve looking at multiple issues and indicators of well-being for children and families in that community, or forming partnerships with multiple funders in that community.
Sustainable
We seek to create sustainable outcomes for children and families. We avoid investments that lack a sustainable future funding strategy.
The Permanent Fund for the Well-Being of Vermont Children is happy to answer questions related to work in progress and inquiries from organizations wishing to collaborate with us.
